I started making baby afghans years ago when I found a simply
pattern for doing alphabet blocks. After doing that one of baby shower, I made my
own pattern for scriptures and names and then I learned to incorporate beads into
my design. |
I started out with only yarn. I made several of these as baby shower gifts. |
My husband complained that it was hard to read the letters and that I needed to do
them in a different color. At the time I was learning to make bead insects and jewelry.
After trying various techniques, I figured out a way to add the beads as I crocheted
my afghan.

This one won the blue ribbon in the SC State Fair and is the only one I've kept.
For a girl, of course. Since most people weren't using these as blankets and some
actually hung them up on walls for decorations, adding beads wouldn't endanger any
child.
I had to special order these pink and blue beads. I couldn't find them except in mixed
bags with many other colored beads.
These afghans take a minimum of 26 hours each to make. Another 28 hours for names
on all four sides, not including the design and alignment times. My prices begin at
$100, not including shipping or change in design, $125 for one with beads. Prices
can also vary if a different yarns are use.
Please allow at least 2 months for completion. A deposit of 50% is required at
the time of the order.
